Medical Journalists from Anhui, Shanghai, and Heilongjiang Meet at AHMU

Recently, medical journalists of Anhui, Shanghai, and Heilongjiang met in a successful symposium held at Anhui Medical University (AHMU). Vice-president Yu Yongqiang, entrusted by President Cao Yunxia, and Meng Lidong, the Secretary General of Anhui Periodical Publication Association hosted the meeting.

Yu Yongqiang warmly welcomed the heads of the editorial staff of medical journals, who came to AHMU to exchange experience of running journals. He introduced such important facts as the history of AHMU, discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, medical services, and scientific journals. Then he highly praised the important role of professional journals in higher education and medical care. Meanwhile, he put forward higher requirements and expectations for AHMU to publish journals of domestic brand and international influence.
Huang Hesheng, vice-chairman of Anhui Periodical Publication Association and director of the Publishing Center of AHMU, introduced in detail the facts of AHMU starting medical journals, from the founding of Southeast Medical Journal at the beginning of the establishment of AHMU, to editing and publishing National Medical Journal of China in 1930s and Act a Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui after the establishment of PR China, and to the release of Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin and a dozen more of other medical journals after Reform and Opening-up. He shared experience of running journals as well. Editor Ni Liqiang, vice-chairman of Medical Journal Committee of Shanghai Periodical Publication Association, and Wang Aiping, the head of Journal of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, introduced the current situation and experience of running medical journals in their own provinces respectively. Other experts also made brilliant speeches, and expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the achievements of the journals published by AHMU.
After the meeting, delegates visited the campus and the Publishing Center of AHMU with great interest. They were impressed by the old buildings and rich cultural connotation of AHMU.
Leaders of Anhui Provincial Press and Publication Bureau, directors or chief editors from over 40 medical journals in the areas of Anhui, Shanghai, and Heilongjiang, to name a few, Fudan University Journal of Medical Sciences, Chinese Journal of Cancer (CJC) and Chinese Journal of Reproduction and Contraception, attended the meeting.
