Prof. Zhang Hong, Researcher of Institute of Biophysics at Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), who was awarded National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, was invited to AHMU for academic exchanges and held a lecture entitled Autophagy: Lessons from C. Elegans at the First Lecture Hall of the school library. Prof. Yu Yongqiang, Vice President of AHMU, hosted the lecture.

Starting the lecture with the Nobel prize winner Yoshinori Ohsumi, who discovered autophagy in yeasts, Prof. Zhang Hong further illustrated the groundbreaking researches carried out by his team on Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans), such as identifying a series of autophagy-related genes and systematically researching the roles of the genes in cell autophagy and human diseases. Prof. Zhang also presented his latest studies, including the assembly mechanism of LLPS which concerns the P-particle regulating asymmetric cell division.
