On the morning of June 10, 2018, the founding conference of the Department of General Practice of AHMU (Anhui Medical University) and the New Forum of General Practice were held successfully in Hefei. Zhu Qixing, vice president of AHMU, was present at the conference and delivered a speech. Professor Chen Mingwei from the First Affiliated Hospital of AHMU was elected the first chairman of the Department of General Practice.
At the subsequent New Forum of General Practice, Professor Li Yingchun from AHMU and Professor Tang Haiqin, honorary chairman of the Department of General Practice, respectively introduced the significance of the founding of the Department of General Practice in medical universities and colleges, the progress in education of general practice in our university, as well as the new development model of general practice at home and abroad.
The foundation of the Department of General Practice at AHMU marked the establishment of the academy of leading figures in the discipline of general practice in Anhui Province. It would advance the construction of the discipline of general practice at our university, improve the cultivation of professional talents, and promote its developmentin Anhui province. The first committee of the Department of General Practice would actively strengthen cooperation, integrate high-quality clinical teaching resources, cultivate the professional talents of general practice, and propel the comprehensive development of general practice in such aspects as medical care, medical training, and scientific research.
Administrative personnel of the AHMU Hospital Management Office and the First Affiliated Hospital of AHMU, as well as experts from teaching hospitals, teaching bases and community practice bases of general practicein Anhui Province attended the conference.
