The Undergraduate Students Win the Third Prize at the National Life Science Competition

In the second National Life Science competition(the first time in Anhui Province), the undergraduate students from the School of Life Sciences of AHMU won the third prize.

The competition lasted from March to November 2018, Ding Rui from the School of Life Sciences as the team leader, and several other teachers including Yang Runhuai and Wu Linmei being the instructors. Each week, the participants would do experiments in the laboratories and finish literature reviews, experimental reports, data analysis and so on. Despite the long period of time and the heavy tasks, the participants’ performance was very impressive. In the end, FengFei-fang, Wei Kun and Li Mingliang’s “Intelligent Hydrogel Experiment” instructed by Yang Runhuai entered the final and won the third prize in the national competition and the second prize in Anhui Province. Zhu Dengyong and Wang Han’s “Research on the Growth and Reproduction of Escherichia coli on Chitosan Material” directed by Wu Linmei won the national honorary prizeand the third prize in Anhui Province. Zhu Huaqing, Vice Dean of the School of Life Sciences, attended the finals as a judge and special guest, and awarded prizes to the winners.
The Life Science competition was organized by the Life Science Competition Committee for the National College Students. It is jointly sponsored by the College Biology Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the College Biology Science Specialty Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the College Biotechnology and Bioengineering Specialty Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and the Journal of College Biology Teaching Research (Electronic Edition). The competition involved participants from 375 colleges and included 4521 items.
