The preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Medical Education Alliance was held in Suzhou on the morning of August 26, 2019. Chen Xinyu, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology Education of the National Health Commission, and Chen Guoqiang, dean of the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Cao Yunxia, the president of our university, was invited to attend the meeting and made an exchange speech.
The meeting was presided over by Wu Zhengyi, deputy dean of School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University. The vice president of School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Hu Yiqun, introduced the preparations for the Alliance. Participants reviewed the Constitution of the Yangtze River Delta Medical Education Alliance (Draft), deployed specific arrangements for the establishment conference, and conducted extensive discussions on the important work and cooperation after the establishment of the Alliance.
It is reported that the Alliance will work to promote the integration of medical education in the Yangtze River Delta region, promote the reform and development of medical education, and accelerate the construction of a standardized medical training system with Chinese characteristics in the process of deepening the coordination of medical education. According to the meeting arrangement, the Yangtze River Delta Medical Education Alliance will be formally established at the end of 2019.
The main leaders from Fudan University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhejiang University, Wenzhou Medical University, Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou University, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, and University of Science and Technology of China also attended the meeting.
