On the morning of October 1st, 2019, the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Repbulic of China (PRC) was held in Tian’anmen Square, Beijing. The leaders --- Gu Jiashan, Cao Yunxia, Liu Qunying, Chang Yejun, Xiao Shenglong, Wang Kai and LYU Xiongwen, and the representatives of faculty and students of Anhui Medical University (AHMU) witnessed the exciting and glorious moment of our country via live broadcast. Everyone felt proud in the majestic and solemn national anthem.
At 10 a.m., when President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPC), and other Party and State leaders boarded the Tian’anmen Rostrum, accompanied by the 70-gun salute, the audience in AHMU exploded with applause. Hearing the music of The March of the Volunteers, everyone present stood solemnly and sang the national anthem together, as if they were at the scene of the grand ceremony in person. All the teachers and students got excited and inspired, as President Xi Jinping shouted, “Long live the great People’s Republic of China! Long live the great Communist Party of China! Long live the great Chinese people!”. The thunderous applause prolonged for a long time.
At 10:16 a.m., the air echelon flew over Tian’anmen Squre, marking the start of the National Day military parade. Combined Honor Guards of the People’s Liberation Army were in the front, escorting the flags of the CPC, PRC, and PLA (the People’s Liberation Army). Then 15 foot formations, 32 armament formations and 12 echelons passed through Tian’anmen Square in turn. The audiences at AHMU were deeply gratified by the gallantry of the parade-participants, and thrilled by the domestically developed high-tech armaments showcased in the parade.
The faculty and students of AHMU, as well as people nationwide, delightedly watched the celebrations via live broadcast and witnessed the grand occasion in Beijing. It was fascinating, inspring and exciting. The audience at AHMU expressed their sincere compliments and best wishes to PRC, CPC and the fellow countrymen.
The 400-seat hall of AHMU was filled up, with many teachers and students sitting or standing in the corridor. Meanwhile, teachers and students of AHMU watched the celebrations together in the canteens, in the classrooms, in the dormitories, in the affiliated hospitals, and at over 50 institutes for post-graduate cultivation in 8 provinces nationwide. Watching the National Day military parade together, everyone was elated by the prosperity of our motherland.
