Entrusted by the Provincial Department of Education, our university prepared a special course “On Epidemic Prevention before Returning to School —Prevention of Covid-19,which broadcasted simultaneously online in 16 cities of Anhui province through multiple channels at 9 o’clock on April 5, 2020. Professor Tao Fangbiao, Dean of the School of Health Management of our school, was invited to give a lecture on this course. The staff, students, and parents of the primary and secondary schools (including kindergartens) in Anhui province watched the program together.

In the course, with diagrams, animations, and texts, Tao concisely and clearly introduced the three elements in the prevention of Covid-19, including the source of infection, the route of transmission, and the susceptible population. He systematically explained how to prevent Covid-19 in scientific ways from the four aspects of students, parents, teachers, and schools. He also demonstrated the seven-step hand-washing method, sneezing etiquette, the proper way to remove and wear masks, and other personal protective measures to guide the audience to establish correct protective awareness and good health behaviors. Meanwhile, combined with the “Covid-19 Prevention and Control Standards and Guidelines for Anhui Provincial Schools” jointly issued by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Health and Health Commission, Tao explained the key points and techniques to prevent Covid-19, such as core knowledge and path of mental health guidance and suggested some specific measures.

After watching the program, most teachers, students, and parents said that the course content is comprehensive and the explanation is vivid. It provides the audience with a more systematic and in-depth understanding of the Covid-19, and helps improve their own health literacy and develop good living habits. It also gives the detailed and scientific guidance to the epidemic prevention and control on resuming school and classes, which can help the returning of students in the spring semester of 2020 and win the battle against the epidemic.
