A Breakthrough for Young Scholars! AHMU Has Achieved Another Success in the 2022 Projects Funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China

On September 82022, the committee of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the review results of 2022 NSFC Centralized Acceptance of Project Application. A total of 114 projects in our university has been funded, with direct funding costs of 49.73 million yuan, including 1 Distinguished Young Scholars fund project, 53 general projects, and 60 Young Scholars fund projects. The number of projects has exceeded the 100 mark for three consecutive years.

In recent years, AHMU adheres to the “Four Orientations”, promotes organized scientific research, and accelerates the pace of innovation. It implements a series of reform strategies and promotion plans, continues to improve the introduction and cultivation of talents, promotes the construction of high-level scientific and technological talent teams, continuously improves infrastructure conditions, optimizes resource allocation, and creates a high-level scientific and technological support platform system. Science and technology have ushered in vigorous development. The comprehensive strength of science and technology, basic research level and original innovation ability, ability to serve national and regional needs, and innovative talent training ability of the university have reached a new level. Over 100 NSFC projects for three consecutive years is a strong embodiment of the solid progress of various work of our university.

This year, Professor Wang Hua, from Anhui Provincial Laboratory of Inflammatory and Immune Diseases and The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, presided over the project “Inflammation and Repair of Liver Injury”, which was successfully selected into the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, achieving a historic breakthrough in this type of project in our university. He also became one of the two masters of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in Anhui province this year. Prof. Wang is a young scientific and technological innovation talent independently cultivated by our university since the undergraduate and graduate stages, and he was funded by the Excellent Young Scientists Fund in 2015. This time he won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, which reflects the profound accumulation and remarkable results of talent training and the cultivation of young scientific and technological innovation talents in our university, marking that the scientific research of AHMU has moved to a new level.
