Our University’s Psychiatry and Psychology Discipline Enters Global Top 1% in ESI Rankings for the First Time

On September 15, 2023Clarivate Analytics released the latest data for the Essential Science Indicators (ESI), and our university’s Psychiatry and Psychology discipline entered the top 1% for the first time. This is another important achievement in developing psychiatry and psychology-related disciplines in our university. So far, Anhui Medical University has a total of 9 disciplines in the top 1% global ranking of ESI, including Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biology and Biochemistry, Immunology, Neuroscience and Behavior, Social Sciences General, Environmental Science and Ecology, and Psychiatry and Psychology. These rankings place AHMU first among Anhui provincial universities and second among all universities in the province.

According to the latest data, a total of 8,786 research institutions worldwide have entered the top 1% globally. Our university is ranked 985th internationally, rising 14 places compared to its position in July. In this period, our university has published 17,526 SCI/SSCI papers, with a total citation count of 237,328 and an average citation count of 13.54 per paper. In the field of Psychiatry and Psychology, there are 1,004 research institutions worldwide that have entered the top 1%. Our university is ranked 984th internationally in this discipline. A total of 465 papers have been published, with a total citation count of 4,555 and an average citation count of 9.8 per paper. Six papers from our university have been selected as high-level publications.

ESI (Essential Science Indicators) is a bibliometric analysis database based on the publication records from the SCI/SSCI (Science Citation Index/Social Sciences Citation Index) over the past decade. It is an important indicator widely used to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities and research institutions. Disciplines ranked in the top 1% by ESI are generally considered to be of international high-level status. The updated ESI data covers the period from January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2023.
