From March 30 to April 1, 2018, the 30th anniversary ceremony of the successful application of assisted reproductive technology in Mainland China and the colloquium on Reproductive Health were held at Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center. Prof. Cao Yunxia, president of Anhui Medical University, also director of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of the Reproductive Medicine Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of AHMU, attended the launch ceremony and made a speech at the conference.
This conference was to commemoratethe 30th anniversary of the birth of the first test tube baby in Mainland China, with the theme of building dreams of new birth. Its goal was to promote the development of China’s reproductive medicine, enhance the clinical diagnosis and treatment level, and strengthen international communication and cooperation.The conference invited experts and scholars from many prestigious international academic organizations and research institutes, such as European&American Society for Reproductive Medicine, International Alliance for Reproductive Medicine, Asia-Pacific Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists— the birthplace of the first tube baby in the world,and hundreds of well-known experts and scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
On the first day of the conference, Prof. Cao expounded on the current importance of hierarchical medical system in the field of reproductivemedicinefrom three aspects: the development, the opportunity with challenge, andthe implementation. At a later seminar, Prof. Cao went on exploring the technical hurdles and ethics of mitochondrial donation.
On the same day, the second Editorial Board meeting of the Chinese version of Human Reproduction Update was held. At the meeting, Prof. Cao, deputy editor-in-chief of the Chinese version, made a special exposition on the publication purpose of the Chinese version of the journal and the editorial policies. Her exposition reflected the academic rigor and professionalismof the Editorial Board composed of sixty-four experts and young professionals of the field of reproductive medicine in China.
After the opening ceremony, Chinese Reproductive Health Innovation Alliance,initiatedby the National Center of Clinical Medicine of Obstetrics and Gynecology ofPeking University Third Hospital, was officially set up. The Reproductive Medicine Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical Universitysigned up as one of the founding members. Dr. Hao Yan, coming from the Reproductive Medicine Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of AHMU, also made a special report on the SOP display of the vitrification technique at the colloquium.
