In 1933 and 1934, Mr. Cai Yuanpei, the famous educator in China, wrote the inscriptions of “Learning and practicing” and “ training competent doctors” for Southeast Medical College (the predecessor of Anhui Medical University ), which were adopted as the university motto on the occasion of the university’s 80th anniversary, in 2006.
