Recently, Shen Huihui, a student of 2015 batch in Clinical Medicine Major at the Second Clinical Medical School, published an article titled NLRP3: A promising therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases by the first author in the Autoimmunity Reviews (2017 annual impact factor of 8.9).

The author selected four typical autoimmune diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis, and inflammatory bowel disease) as the entry point, systematically explored the biological functions of NLRP3, and summed up the research results that affect the development of autoimmune diseases by the NLRP3 in recent years, and proposed that “NLRP3 may serve as a therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases.”

The publication of this paper is one of the important results of our university’s emphasis on undergraduates’ education and talents cultivation. In recent years, more and more undergraduates are involved in early scientific research, working hard, keeping innovating, and have made breakthroughs in succession. This will help further improve the quality of personnel training in AHMU and build a high-level medical university.

The corresponding authors of the paper are Ye Dongqing and Pan Haifeng from Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, School of Public Health of AHMU / Key Laboratory of Major Autoimmune Diseases in Anhui province.
