On the afternoon of October 10, 2018,AHMU held the first liver thematic forum. Six experts and scholars in the field of liver and more than 100 professionals from AHMU and the First Affiliated Hospital attended the forum.
Six academic reports were presented at the forum. Professor Wang Hua, from Oncology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital, in his report entitled Aging and Alcoholic Liver, discussed the damage of excessive alcohol intake to liver, and proposed for the first time the method of establishing pathological model of alcoholic fatty liver. Professor ShenYuxian from School of Basic Medicine systematically expounded the relationship between endoplasmic reticulum stress, Manf and various liver diseases from three aspects of in vivo, in vitro and clinical cases, and revealed the new mechanism of Manf in the occurrence and development of liver diseases. Professor Wang Hua from School of Public Health, lectured on the role of pink1/parkin-mediated mitochondrial autophagy in APAP-induced liver injury, and shared personal experiences in experimental operation skills, laboratory safety management, and so on. ZhengMeijuan, deputy director of the Laboratory Department of the First Affiliated Hospital, lectured on the role of NK cells in regulating the activation of CD8 + T cells, and revealed the molecular mechanisms involved in liver immune regulation and hepatic HBV infection. Associate Professor Zhang Huabing from School of Basic Medicinemainly researched the regulation of transcription factor KLF14 in hepatic gluconeogenesis. According to his research, intervention of the expression of KLF14 could regulate the blood sugar level of diabetic mice and provide a new target for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity.Professor Wang Xuefu, an associate professor from School of Pharmacology, systematically researched the response of hepatic immune cells and their role in the pathogenesis and development of the diseases using the model of drug-induced liver injury.
The forum was organized by the Young Scholars’Association of School of Basic Medicine, Anhui Medical University. It provided a good platform for the scholars in the field of liver research in Anhui Medical University. It also gave young scientists good inspiration and guidance, and promoted the liver research in Anhui Medical University and the affiliated hospitals. After the meeting, it was decided that the Association would organize forums on liver researches annually.
