From October 8 to 12, 2018 Professor Jonathan Sliman of Mannheim Medical School, Heidelberg University, Germany, visited Anhui Medical University. Cao Yunxia, President of AHMU, cordially met with the guest and exchanged views on further strengthening the exchange visits of teachers and students and scientific research cooperation between the two universities.
According to the visiting plan, Professor Sliman reviewed and summarized the postgraduate program between the two universities at the opening ceremony of the enrollment, explained the latest policy of the project, and organized a reading seminar, leading the students to have a heated discussion and communication. Professor Sliman also interviewed the candidates who were preparing to pursue a master’s degree in translational medicine at Heidelberg University this year. He gave a general affirmation of the overall quality of the candidates, and put forward opinions and suggestions according to the interview situation, expecting that more excellent medical students from Anhui Medical University would go to Heidelberg University for further study in the future.
During his visit to Anhui Medical University, Professor Slieman had in-depth exchanges with many experts and physicians in the field of cancer research and scientific cooperation. At the Sino-German Symposium on Tumor Research, he made a speech entitled “Regulation of Extracellular Matrix on Tumor Growth and Metastasis” and an academic report “Neutrophils and Cancer: From Good to Bad”. Professor Shan Ge, School of Life Science, University of Science and Technology of China, was invited to attend the seminar and gave a lecture on “Two Examples of Gene Expression Regulated by Non-coding. Three professors and young physicians from Anhui Medical University also reported their recent research achievements at the seminar. More than 150 teachers and students listened to the reports.
According to statistics, 61 students from Anhui Medical University have studied for doctoral degree in Germany, and 16 students have completed the doctoral degree training and returned.
