From October 12 to 14, 2018 “Study in China” — the 2nd Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition of International Medical Students was held at Dalian Medical University. The participants of Anhui Medical University showed a good competitive state during the competition and outstanding performance in teamwork, clinical skills, humanistic care, etc. Finally, they won the highest award of this competition — the Excellent Team Award and the Best Teamwork Award. Besides, one of the participants, named CHETTY KIEREN won the highest award for individual events —Excellent Skills of Surgery Award. President Cao Yunxia sent her earliest congratulations and condolences to the participants and the team.
The competition was jointly organized by China Association for International Education and Dalian Medical University. A total of 120 international undergraduate students majoring in MBBS from 30 colleges and universities including Tongji University and Tianjin Medical University participated in the competition. Anhui Medical University attached great importance to the competition. In order to guarantee the quality of pre-match training, President Cao Yunxia presided over the meeting for coordination and mobilization and served as the leader of the leading group to organize relevant departments to participate in the training for the competition. The training for the competition was led by School of International Education, hosted by the Second Affiliated Hospital, and assisted by the First Affiliated Hospital and School of Nursing. The instructors gave the students excellent training before the competition, and after tireless effort and sleepless nights, the participants showed the unique style of Anhui Medical University.
The competition covered internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, infection, first aid and other subjects, focusing on the medical clinical thinking, the patient-centered humanistic care spirit, skills of communication with patients and standardized clinical operation of international medical students in China. The competition is a brand project of “Study in China”, which aims to improve the level of international medical education in China and promote the development and exchange of international medical education in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.
With the opportunity of participating in this competition, Anhui Medical University has further established itself for MBBS education, which has laid a solid foundation for enhancing its influence among the countries along the “Belt and Road”.
