On the afternoon of January 11, 2019, the award ceremony of “Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Country’s Reform and Opening-up in Shushan District — Selection of Top Ten Landmarks” was solemnly held, and the list of “Top Ten Landmarks” was officially unveiled. Anhui Medical University, the central and west campuses of University of Science and Technology of China, Anhui University, Anhui Agricultural University and Anhui University of Chinese Medicine as a cluster of universities, successfully entered the list of “Top Ten Landmarks”.
It is known that from the launch of the event to the award ceremony, the selection of Top Ten Landmarks in Shushan District lasted for more than two months and received extensive attention from Hefei citizens and even the national media. With the recommendation of experts and citizens, Anhui Medical University eventually won out over 56 selected landmarks during the selection.
The “Top Ten Landmarks” list includes not only the beautiful natural landscape, but also the cultural relics witnessing the history of the city, as well as the powerful modern city gateways, fashionable modern businesses which are well known to Hefei citizens, and also city landmarks showing Shushan's strength in science and education. They are the Source of Hefei, University Cluster (Anhui Medical University, the central and west campuses of University of Science and Technology of China, Anhui University, Anhui Agricultural University and Anhui University of Chinese Medicine as a cluster of universities), Swan Lake Financial and Cultural Business District, Mount Dashu, Science Island, Hefei No.8 Senior High School, Anhui Museum, Doppler Radar Tower of Anhui Meteorological Administration, Daoxianglou Hotel, Hefei Xinqiao International Airport.
Anhui Medical University, as the first higher institution established in Hefei, has a history of 93 years, and has finally been selected among the “Top Ten Landmarks” by virtue of its strong competitiveness in medical disciplines.
