On July 18, 2019，the 2019 National College Student Wushu Routine Championship opened at the west gymnasium of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Our international students team finally took six first prizes and two second prizes in men’s and women’s Taiji quan, Shaolin boxing and Daoshu respectively.
It is reported that this competition, sponsored by the Federation of University Sports of China, is the highest-level competition of Wushu routines for Chinese college students. Nearly 1500 athletes from 145 universities, including Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Macao University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Beijing Sports University participated in the competition.
Our International students Bao Wen, Tian Yu, Onieka from School of International Education competed with many other college students in the 4-day competition under the leadership of Mr. Zhang Zhongxing and Mr. Chen Kaihua from Department of Physical Education of School of Humanistic Medicine. Although it was the first time for Anhui Medical University to participate in this national competition, the international students from our university played very stable with an outstanding performance.
The good result of this competition is closely linked with the long-term education of Chinese traditional culture for international students by the School of International Education which also represents another important achievement of the international students’ education of our university.
