Recently, Cao Fan, an undergraduate student of Batch 2016 majoring in clinical medicine (Combined Bachelor-master Degree Programme) of the Second Clinical Medical School, as the first author published a review essay titled “P2X7 Receptor: A Potential Target for the Treatment of Autoimmune Diseases” on Autoimmune Review, an international authoritative journal (influence factor: 7.716 in 2018). This is the second undergraduate student majoring in clinical medicine who has published an SCI paper on an international journal in the past two years, following Shen Huihui, an undergraduate student majoring in clinical medicine at AHMU.
Taking the seven autoimmune diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, xerosis, psoriasis, systemic sclerosis) as the cut-in point, this paper systematically expounds the biological function of “P2X7” receptor, summarizes the recent research results of the effect of “P2X7” receptor on the development of autoimmune diseases and further points out that “P2X7” receptor may be a potential therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases.
The publication of this paper is an important manifestation of our university’s long-term emphasis on undergraduate scientific research practice and ability cultivation, and the real implementation of early contact in scientific research projects for students majoring in clinical medicine (Combined Bachelor-master Degree Programme).
