On October 9, 2019, The first positron emission magnetic resonance imaging system(PET/MR) in Anhui Province settled in The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University (AHMU), which makes it become the only large comprehensive hospital in our province with the configuration license of this system.
The positron emission magnetic resonance imaging system(PET/MR)is the latest advanced molecular imaging equipment which is a fusion of both the positron emission computed tomography (PET) and the magnetic resonance imaging (MR). This settlement also marks that the overall level of nuclear medicine molecular imaging in our province has reached the international advanced level. Compared with the traditional inspection methods, the significant advantage of this system is that it greatly reduces ionizing radiation to the human body, making it more applicable to such radiation-sensitive departments as pediatrics.
In addition, the positron emission magnetic resonance imaging system also has the advantages of synchronous acquisition, more accurate positioning, elimination of motion artifacts and high soft tissue contrast. With a single examination, the information of the fine morphological structure of human tissues, cell metabolism and function, molecular tables of disease types can be integrated, thus a comprehensive and accurate diagnostic report can be provided for the examinees. Therefore, the system has broad application prospects in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors, cardiovascular and nervous system diseases, and it can make the early diagnosis of neurological diseases without obvious structural changes such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and functional encephalopathy.
In recent years, the hospital has actively established the National Medical Center and the National Regional Medical Center. To keep up with the international and domestic medical frontiers, it has introduced the first Da Vinci surgical robot and the first air 120 helicopter in our province, the orthopedic surgical robot and other advanced equipment to ensure that the citizens can enjoy internationally advanced medical service within the province.
