On March 3, 2020, the Ministry of Education released the 2019 annual record and approval results of undergraduate majors in regular institutions of higher learning. Midwifery (course code: 101102T) has been approved to be registered as a new major of our university which makes the total number of undergraduate majors of our university reach 34.
It is known that this specialty of midwifery aims to cultivate the advanced talents with comprehensive development in moral, intellectual and physical education who are able to engage in clinical midwifery, perinatal care, maternal and child health care in various medical and health care institutions and can meet the needs of China national conditions and health care cause. These talents need to have a good command of theoretical knowledge of medicine, preventive health care and theoretical knowledge related to humanities and social sciences as well as the basic theory and nursing skills of nursing and midwifery. They also need to have basic clinical nursing and clinical midwifery ability, preliminary teaching ability of midwifery specialty, perinatal management ability and scientific research ability related to obstetrics, as well as international vision, lifelong learning ability and innovative spirit, good professional quality and sense of responsibility. The length of study of this major is 4 years and the graduate will be awarded the bachelor degree in science.
The school will adhere to the connotative development of professional construction, continue to implement the Double Ten Thousand Plan for the construction of first-class majors, introduce the “Administrative Measures for the Establishment and Construction of Undergraduate Majors of Anhui Medical University”, optimize the professional structure and layout, implement dynamic adjustments of majors, establish and improve professional early warning and exit mechanism. We will continue with the goal of comprehensively revitalizing undergraduate education, give full play to the advantages of various disciplines, coordinate the deployment of new majors at the intersection of medicine and engineering, medicine and science such as artificial intelligence, big data to further strengthen the construction of the medical profession that is in short supply required for national and regional economic development.
