On the morning of December 5, 2020, the first lesson of the 8th season of the “Let’s Talk about Science” course series, offered by the Alliance for Medical Education of Yangtze River Delta, began in the first lecture hall of our school library. Being the lecturer, the university president Prof. Cao Yunxia taught a course titled “On Human’s Future Reproductive Health from the Perspective of Assisted Reproduction”. Vice President Prof. Lyu Xiongwen was the co-lecturer.
Prof. Cao Yunxia started with the history and development of human reproduction, drew forth the significance of reproductive health, pointed out that infertility is an important content of reproductive health, and put forward the breakthroughs and reflection brought by assisted reproductive technology (ART) and derivative technology for assisted reproduction.
“Let’s Talk about Science” course series are taught by the “Dream Team of Scientists” including the outstanding basic medical scientists, prestigious scholars, and clinical researchers from the 10 member universities of the Alliance for Medical Education of Yangtze River Delta. Through frontier literature introduction, scientific method exploration, research experience sharing, the courses wish to foster a scientific culture of seeking truth and reality, encourage students to think about and explore scientific problems, stimulate their interest in medical scientific research, and to cultivate their ability in scientific research. The 8th season was undertaken by our university, and the courses will be taught by Prof. Cao Yunxia — President of AHMU, Prof. Wang Kai — Dean of Anhui Provincial Institute of Translational Medicine, and Prof. Tao Fangbiao — Dean of School of Health Management (AHMU).
