On December 18, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony was held in Feixi County to launch the construction of a new medical center/ Feixi campus of Anhui Medical University. Mr. Yu Aihua, member of Anhui Provincial Standing Committee and secretary of Hefei Municipal Party Committee of CPC，announced the start of the construction，and Ms. Wang Cuifeng, deputy governor of Anhui Province, attended the ceremony.
The new medical center/campus of AHMU spans an area of Lake Ziyunhu, Urban and Industrial Integration Development Demonstration Zone, and the southern bank of Tanchong River. The construction of this new campus pioneers the urban development of a new modernized Feixi, and stands out as a key foundational project in the initiative to build AHMU into a higher-level medical university. Located in the central region of Feixi Urban and Industrial Integration Development Demonstration Zone, the construction project plans to cover a total floor area of approximately 912.3 thousand square meters, with a gross investment of 6 billion CNY. Phase I project includes the Public Learning Center/library, School+Center Sci-Tech Innovation Complex, Students’ Center, stadium, several institutes for the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center: Comprehensive Health, Medical Big Data, and Population Health.
Once the new campus is constructed, AHMU will have ample space to house a student population up to 35,000, increase its ability to provide talents for Healthy Anhui Strategy, and facilitate the learning-research-production integration for the comprehensive health industry in Feixi County.
