On the morning of November 19, 2024, a delegation from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana, led by Dr. Kingsley Asamoah Asare-Patrick, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine, visited Anhui Medical University (AHMU). Professor Yu Yongqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, presided over the exchange meeting.
Yu Yongqiang extended his sincere greetings to Dr. Kingsley Asamoah Asare-Patrick and the other members of the delegation. He then provided a comprehensive overview of Anhui Medical University’s rich history, highlighting its accomplishments in talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and international partnerships. Professor Yu emphasized the strong foundation of collaboration between the two institutions, recalling the agreement signed in 2019 to jointly train graduate students and to co-establish the “Joint Laboratory for Tropical Diseases and Parasitology.” He further noted that in 2024, AHMU was honored to be selected for the “China-Africa 100 Universities Cooperation Program,” with UCC designated as its African partner by China Association of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. Professor Yu expressed his hope that the visit would further strengthen ties between the two universities, making meaningful contributions to the development of the China-Africa community with a shared future.
In response, Dr. Kingsley Asamoah Asare-Patrick expressed his gratitude for the warm reception extended by Anhui Medical University. He provided an introduction to the University of Cape Coast, emphasizing its campus environment, infrastructure, educational quality, research focus, international cooperation initiatives, and service to the broader community. He expressed hope for learning from the experience of AHMU in medical education and scientific research, and enhancing partnerships in key areas such as the joint development of laboratories, co-training of graduate students, and faculty capacity development.
