Undergraduate Team from School of Public Health Wins First Prize in National Comprehensive Skills Competition for College Students Majoring in Health Inspection and Quarantine

On October 12, 2024, the final of the First “Human Health Cup” National Comprehensive Skills Competition for College Students Majoring in Health Inspection and Quarantine was held in Chongqing Medical University. The team of undergraduates from School of Public Health, majoring in health inspection and quarantine, consisting of Wang Xinying, Jiang Yumeng, Chen Xu and Cui Liangyu, was shortlisted for the final and won the first prize of the competition.

This comprehensive skills competition consists of two stages: the preliminary and the final. The preliminary competition is conducted online and by video recording, with 24 teams shortlisted for the final according to the team score ranking. The first leg of the final is physical and chemical testing, examining the students’ skills of chemical analysis, sample processing, and instrument use; the second leg is microbiological testing and biosafety, examining the students’ staining microscopy, isolation techniques, immunoassay and other microbiological testing techniques, as well as putting on and taking off protective clothing and disposal of biological waste; The third leg is a case study, examining the students’ ability to carry out comprehensive analysis, sample collection, experimental design and communication through required questions and quick response questions. The scores of all three legs are directly added together to get the final score. After a fierce competition, the team guided by three teachers from the School of Public Health, Ji Yanli, Wang Juan and Zhang Yihao, performed well and won the first prize in the final, demonstrating solid knowledge in professional theories and adept skills in integrated practice.
