On April 20, 2025, at the Anhui Provincial Selection of the Fifth “Stories of China Retold in English”Challenge for Advanced-Level International Students in China, JASON TAN SIN THIEN (Chinese name: Chen Xintian), an international student from our university, achieved the highest score and won the first prize.
In his themed speech titled “How I Perceive China—A Journey Through Time in the Pursuit of Health”, Chen Xintian skillfully intertwined his personal experiences in studying medicine and practicing martial arts with the profound Chinese philosophy of “harmony between humans and nature.”He also shared the inspiration and profound influence traditional Chinese medicine wisdom has had on him. During the impromptu Q&A session, his quick thinking and in-depthunderstanding of China’s excellent traditional culture, as well as his unique perspective on Chinese stories, impressed the judges. For the talent showcase, Chen wielded a long staff, transforming into a “mighty lion,”captivating the audience with the vitality and passion of Chinese traditional culture and earning thunderous applause.
It is reported that this year’s “Stories of China Retold in English”Challenge for International Students in China attracted 4,366 participants in the preliminary round, covering 142 countries and regions, with 269 universities involved. The International Collegeof AHMU attached great importance to the event and actively organized international students to participate, with three contestants advancing to the Anhui Provincial Selection.
