Seven Scholars from Anhui Medical University Are Recognized in Elsevier’s 2024 List of Highly Cited Chinese Researchers

On March 25, 2025, Elsevier formally announced the 2024 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list, which highlights the most influential scholars in China based on citation metrics. Seven eminent professors from our university—Professors Weng Jianping, Zhang Xuejun, Li Jun, Wei Wei, Tao Fangbiao, Xu Dexiang, and Meng Xiaoming—were included in this distinguished ranking, underscoring the university’s outstanding contributions to academic research and innovationin medicine.

The 2024 list spans 83 primary disciplines across 10 academic fields, with 6,388 scholars honored from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions nationwide. Within the list, Professors Weng Jianping and Zhang Xuejun were recognized in the field of Clinical Medicine; Professors Li Jun, Wei Wei, and Meng Xiaoming were acknowledged for their contributions to Pharmacy; and Professors Tao Fangbiao and Xu Dexiang were honored in the discipline of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.

Elsevier’s “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list is compiled using data from Scopus, an authoritative global citation and indexing database. The selection is a key indicator of scholarly influence, offering an authoritative assessment of research output and institutional strengths in Chinese academia. The inclusion of multiple Anhui Medical University scholarsnot only affirms their individual achievements but also highlights the university’s dedication to advancing excellence and innovation in medical science.
